Student turns ‘Radio Cowboy’

Dan Lewis, 20 years old, is one of the new presenters on Calon FM, the new Community Radio for Wrexham on 105 FM. He broadcasts a weekly Country and Western Live programme called ‘On the Road Again’ from the Calon FM studios, which are based on the Glyndwr University campus in Wrexham.

Dan is one of the 8000 Glyndwr students but only a few know that he has a secret talent for script writing and comedy.

“We were so impressed with his writing skills, ideas and enthusiasm, coupled with the fact that he always wears his Stetson and just loves Country music. We had to give him a weekly show.”

Dan’s passion of Country and Western songs developed when he was a young child and his father, who was a real-life cowboy for 30 years in Dallas, Texas, introduced him to this particular genre of music.

“To be able to use my writing skills alongside my love of music is a dream come true. I can now reveal my secret persona. My Stetson is always in the boot of my car. I feel lost without it as it is a part of me and my personality.”
