The artists, innovators and entrepreneurs leading the digital revolution in Wales are to be showcased at Focus Wales 2017.

Focus Wales is Wales’ premier music industry showcase event, welcoming over 7000 visitors and music industry representatives from around the world to Wrexham annually for over 200 performances of music, art, theatre and comedy, and an interactive conference programme featuring experts from all aspects of the music industry.

Digital Innovations Day is a brand new addition to the Focus Wales interactive conference programme for 2017. Sponsored by the Welsh Government, the day aims to support the growth of the Welsh creative industries sector through inspiring new creative professionals in the potential of digital technologies, equipping them with the knowledge to exploit them, and fostering new partnerships to make sure this happens.

Visitors to the event will be able to enjoy panel discussions with experts and trend setters from around the world, an interactive expo featuring some of the most exciting new technologies on the market, live performances from artists who use technology to bring their shows to life, and a networking reception featuring an address from Cabinet Secretary for the Economy and Transport Ken Skates AM. A range of free educational resources will also be developed especially for the event, ensuring its impact is felt far and wide, and it serves to support the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.

Themes explored on the day will include business opportunities in the games industry, the impact of technology on live performance, and a chance to meet the entrepreneurs behind some of Wales’ and the worlds’ most exciting new apps. Special guests confirmed for the day include BAFTA Award winning games sound designer Rebecca Parnell, founder of fan base management app Hugo, Guy Kessells, director and performance artist Ana Berkenhoff, and Gareth Jones, founder of the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise.

Digital Innovations Day organiser Sarah Jones said “The creative industries are worth more than £8M per hour to the UK economy, and Focus Wales is immensely proud of the work it does in supporting the development and growth of the creative sector in Wales, creating jobs, securing investment, and developing young creative professionals. Digital Innovations Day provides an opportunity to take a huge step forward in this mission, and we can’t wait to welcome some of the most exciting talent from Wales and around the world to Wrexham, and shine a spotlight on some of the fantastic work bringing digital revolution to Wales.”

Tickets to Digital Innovations Day are available now for £20, and access to the event is also included with full festival passes and Saturday day passes for FOCUS Wales. For more information visit www.focuswales.com/diddad.
