Today’s National Student Survey results reveal that 85% of students at Wrexham Glyndwr University (WGU) are satisfied with teaching on their course.

Overall satisfaction was 82%, based on the experiences of final year students in the 2016/17 academic year.

Professor Maria Hinfelaar, Vice-Chancellor, said: “I am pleased to see that we have once again scored highly for the quality of our teaching, following our Silver Award in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

“It is particularly heartening as these are the views of this year’s graduating students, and their academic progress is at the top of our agenda.”

WGU students in the Planning (Urban, Rural and Regional) subject areas were the most satisfied in the UK in this year’s survey.

Overall satisfaction in Management Studies and Mechanical, Production and Manufacturing Engineering programmes was the highest in Wales.

Questions were focused around eight areas of university life – the teaching on my course, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources, learning community and student voice.

The University scored above the national average for Wales in six of the eight question areas.

Professor Claire Taylor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, said: “Satisfaction is again high at Wrexham Glyndwr University, where students have told us that they particularly rate the quality of teaching and the academic support they receive.

“Many course areas have achieved exceptionally good student feedback this year, with several being highly ranked not only across Wales but also the UK.”

Universities Wales Director, Amanda Wilkinson, added: “The NSS results are testament to the hard work Wales’ universities continue to put in to delivering the best possible student learning experience.”
