North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision involving a pedal cyclist.
Shortly after 7:30pm on Saturday 11th August, police received a report that a cyclist had been found on the roadside under a railway bridge on Griffin Hill in Gresford.
Police officers and the Ambulance Service attended and the 52-year-old cyclist, who is local to the area, was taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital with serious injuries. Sadly the cyclist passed away last night.
The road was closed between Gresford and Llay whilst collision investigators examined the scene and re-opened shortly after 10pm.
The cyclist was riding a blue Peugeot pedal cycle and was travelling along Gresford Road towards Llay.
Anybody who may have seen the cyclist prior to the collision, or anybody who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number N132682.
No further details are currently available and North Wales Police are not yet in a position to release the deceased’s details.
