About the Show
Tune in every Monday from 9-11pm. In early 2013, One man had a dream to bring the best metal in the world into one show. Backed by Calon FM, ‘Powerzone’ was born. After 50 successful shows, the host, Dani, otherwise known as ‘The Gentleman of Metal’ decided to freshen up the format, and now brings you POWERZONE! With help from his talkative co-host Joe, and occasional
guest host Mark, POWERZONE strives to continue the good work and give you more diverse metal from the world over.
New singles and classic tracks, Forest, Folk, Power, Battle, Thrash & Black Metal are all belted out at
high volume for your vulgar delectation. These sort of genres aren’t on mainstream radio here in the UK, so you can only hear the madness right here on Calon FM. Tune in weekly, and make your Monday nights BRUTAL!
Amongst many others, We play tracks by bands such as: Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Powerwolf, Gamma Ray, Edguy, Sabaton, Stratovarius, Kiuas, Moonsorrow, In Flames, Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir, Turisas, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Equilibrium, Dream Evil, Hammerfall, Helloween, Avantasia, Rage & Sonata Arctica.

About Dani:“I’ve been into metal since I first heard Metallica, Iron Maiden & Black Sabbath when I was very young. I’m now in my 30’s so it’s been pretty much my whole life.I’m married, and have a young metalhead at home now so I don’t get to as many gigs as I’d like these days, although I have been to plenty of gigs and festivals in my time. I‘m a big fan of BLOODSTOCK festival specifically, as it has bands more suited to my tastes.Over the years, I have amassed a huge library of music, and now have around 30,000 songs, pretty much all metal, but many different sub-genres:You would be surprised at how diverse metal can be! I have a fondness for Folk metal and Power metal especially, despite the genres never having mainstream coverage, and that is the point of Powerzone, to get this sort of music out there in the UK. Plus it’s great fun to present a radio show, we have a good time in the studio and interacting with our listeners.”
