About the Show

‘The Weekend Wing Ding’ was originally hosted by D.J Mick Luvzit on board the first offshore radio station in the UK ‘Radio Caroline North’ The ship was anchored in the international waters 4 miles from Ramsey Bay in the Isle of Man. This has inspired a brand new show on Calon FM, every Sunday from 4-6pm with Brian Cullen.

Brian says of the show;

VLUU L200 / Samsung L200As a youngster listening to the guys on board the radio ship and hearing them having great fun and making ‘good radio’, I got the radio bug!

Having spent most of my working life in radio i have been privileged to meet with some of those original jocks including Mick Luvzit! He gave me his blessing to continue with the show title (Sadly Mick passed away in 2012)

During the 80’s and 90’s the ‘Wing Ding’ was broadcast on local radio to the people of Wrexham so it is nice to ‘come back home’ via the airwaves of Calon FM!

There were so many great records released during the 1960’s and the whole purpose of putting the ‘Wing Ding’ on air is to hopefully try to re-create the sound of radio as it used to be and play lots of 60’s chart music coupled with the turntable hits of that wonderful decade.

So I hope you will join me every Sunday from 4-6pm on Calon FM to wallow in the nostalgia of it all…”
